Microfluidic channels of adjustable height using deformable elastomer

In the emerging field of deformable microfluidics, we propose a new geometry in which height and angle channel are controlled, thanks to deformability microfluidic elastomer down thicknesses few microns. The particularity our set-up is that under study fully closed at rest, reveals especially well suited address micro-nanoconfinement problems such as clogging, transport selectivity flow rectification. Using fluorescence microscopy light absorption, probe shape from measurement PDMS-displacement field. We demonstrate maximal PDMS displacement can be inferred finite elements numerical simulations predicted reliably with simple analytical relations elasticity continuum mechanics.
